Dr. Lauren Schneider sees exotic pets and pocket pets in our clinic!  We see almost any species, except venomous snakes and primates.  Dr. Lauren works Friday and every other Saturday.  We are sorry to say that we are not accepting new exotic/pocket pet patients at this time.  We eagerly welcome birds, snakes, lizards, turtles, chinchillas, guinea pigs, mice, rats, hamsters, hedgehogs, and more!

Dr. Lauren's tips for a successful veterinary visit with your exotic pet:

  • Make sure your pet is in a safely latched enclosure for travel.
  • Preferably bring your pet in the enclosure it normally lives in, if small enough for travel. If you are unable to do this, bring it in a smaller carrier with some of its normal bedding.
  • Cover the carrier your pet is traveling in with towels or blankets to provide a visual barrier, which decreases stress.
  •  Never leave your pet in the car, even for short periods, as overheating can be quick and deadly - especially for smaller pets.
  • Set your pet's carrier on the floor in the exam room, so in case they escape they do not fall to the floor from the exam table. They may not react to being handled by you as they do at home because they are often fearful in the vet's office and act differently.
